Lounge Bar: As the village 'local',
you will always find a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere - village folk
and visitors alike frequent the comfortable bar. In the cooler Winter months
you can sit by one of our coal or log fires in the bar, or if you prefer you can
sit away from the bar in leather Chesterfields. In the Spring and Summer months
you might wish to sit outside and take in the spectacular views and breathe the unpolluted sea air.
There is regular and varied entertainment, including traditional
ceilidh bands - Plaid Oot from Glasgow, Tillers Folly from Vancouver,
Canada and Tantallon from Tasmania, Australia have all recently appeared,
Rock and Blues bands - Dreadful Grate, a very popular local band, Johnny
Fats Blues Band from Wick amongst many others. A regular and popular
Charity Quiz night is held monthly in support of MacMillan Cancer Relief.
From time to time a themed disco is held - perhaps a 'Seventies' night,
occasionally there is a Karaoke night. In the gallery area off the bar
you can enjoy pool or darts. There are wide-screen televisions for major
sporting events - World Cup Football, Olympic Games etc. The bar offers
a wide range of draught beer - including Stella Artois, Tennent's Lager,
Ember 80/- Ale, Velvet 70/- Ale, Boddington's Bitter, Dry Blackthorn Cider,
Guinness regular and extra cold, plus a wide selection of bottled beers, wines
and spirits. Sandwiches and bar meals are regularly available.
The Castle Hotel Portmahomack is a wonderful place for a holiday or vacation, even a short weekend break.
